What the portal does
The Distribution Portal is the home for everything that happens after your music is finished.
Getting a release from a finished master to listeners around the world involves many small steps: preparing files, entering the right information, choosing a release date, delivering to each platform and keeping track of what happens afterwards. The CMG Distribution Portal brings these steps together in one place.
Artists, songwriters, labels and managers can use it to upload releases, manage the details of their music, follow performance and see what they have earned. It is designed to be clear for people who are releasing music for the first time, and efficient for those who release regularly.
Behind the portal is the CMG Distribution team, a group of people who look after the delivery of music and are available to help when you need them.

How it works
Releasing music through the portal follows a simple path.
1. Create your account
Sign up with your details and confirm your email address. You may be asked for some information so that we can pay you correctly.
2. Add your release
Enter the title, artist names, credits and other details, then upload your audio files and artwork.
3. Choose where and when
Select your release date and the platforms you would like to reach. We recommend choosing a date several weeks ahead, which allows time for review and delivery.
4. Submit for review
Our team checks that your release meets the technical requirements and the standards of the platforms. If something needs fixing, we will tell you what to change.
5. Delivery and release
Once approved, your music is delivered to the platforms and goes live on your chosen date.
6. Follow performance and get paid
Use the portal to follow how your release is doing and to see your royalties as they are reported.

Preparing your release
A smooth release starts with good preparation. The portal always shows the current requirements, but these general guidelines will help you get ready.
Audio
Prepare final, mastered audio files in a high-quality, lossless format. Make sure each file is complete, correctly named and free of unwanted noise or clipping.
Artwork
Use a square image in high resolution with no blurry edges or distortion. Artwork should not contain misleading information, third-party logos you do not have the right to use or inappropriate content.
Information and credits
Decide on the exact spelling of your artist name, track titles and credits before you begin. Consistency across releases helps listeners and platforms recognise your work.
Rights
Confirm that you own or control all the rights to the music, including any samples, and that you have agreement from all collaborators.
Timing
Give yourself time. Submitting a release a few weeks before the date you want it live allows for review and gives you room to promote it properly.

Reporting and royalties
Understanding performance and income should not require a degree in data analysis. The portal presents your information in a way that is straightforward, showing what has happened to your music and when.
Reports are updated as information becomes available from platforms. Please keep in mind that platforms report on different schedules, so some activity may appear after a delay. This is normal, and our team can explain it if you have questions.
Royalty statements show what has been earned and where it came from, and payments follow the terms set out when you signed up. If something does not look right, contact us with the details and we will investigate.
